Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 11:13AM We learned Maya Paint Effects last week. Among other things, it lets you put plants, trees and other organics in your image without having to model them. Initially, this seemed great, but the novelty quickly wore off and now they feel like the 3D modeling equilvalent of clip art. That said, our assignment was to make an exterior. Here are both the Ambient Occlusion (AO) pass and the version with Paint Effects (click to embiggen):

And then they asked for artwork for the newsletter. And I didn't hesitate. Because I'm an artist. Because I've been making art. It's that simple.
